You, too, can have weird art!
You, too, can have weird art!

When I hear a quote or saying I love (e.g., Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana. -- possibly by Groucho Marx), my first thought is usually, “what can I embroider that on?”.

Same story the other day when I heard the observation, “I remind myself that I am not in danger.” I was talking to others about anxiety and that consistent, underlying state of arousal that we experience when going through several stressors at the same time.

Experiencing fight-or-flight symptoms can trigger alarm bells. Sometimes we need to remind our amygdalas that we are not actively facing death or bodily harm. Of course, saying “I am not in danger” won’t undo anxiety. The hope is that it reminds you that anxiety isn’t all or none, calm vs. panic. It sucks, but you’ve tolerated worse.

So, unclench that jaw! Take a deep breath! And invest in some embroidery thread.

To get you started, enjoy these free cross stitch patterns I’ve made for you all.

With flowers and bees. Would be great on a tote bag.
